For years, science institutions at Leipzig University have been researching a significant side effect of diabetes: obesity. Biologist Dr. Kathrin Landgraf, with other scientists from various disciplines, investigates the causes, prevention and therapy of this disease in the CRC 1052 "Obesity Mechanisms". Her colleague Dr. Robert Stein is increasingly researching clinical approaches, especially for children and adolescents. On the occasion of World Diabetes Day on 14 November, the two report in an interview on their research in Prof. Dr Antje Körner's team at the Paediatric Research Centre of Leipzig University Medical Centre and as visiting scientists at the Leipzig Helmholtz Institute for Metabolism, Obesity and Vascular Research (HI-MAG).
